Longarm Quilting Services

Have you heard of our new referral program? Refer a friend for our edge-to-edge longarming service and both of you will receive 15% off your longarming service fee when they submit a quilt for longarming! Keep referring friends and keep receiving the discount! Please note that this applies to the longarm service fee only and does not apply to consumables such as the batting cost or thread fee.

Please note that we are only offering COMPUTERIZED, EDGE-TO-EDGE QUILTING (i.e, “all-over” patterns) AND CUSTOM-COMPUTERIZED AT THIS TIME. We are not currently offering custom free-motion quilting (i.e., operator driven) or ruler work. Thank you for your understanding.

General Service Estimates & Expectations

Update! Due to the difficulty of piecing minky/cuddle fabrics and the extra time this requires we have (begrudgingly) increased the service fee to piece backings of these type of materials from $20 to $40. We recommend customers wanting a minky backing to avoid this fee by either purchasing extra wide backing from your local quilt shop, or piecing the backing prior to dropping it off with The Quilt Idaho. We also request customers orient their minky backing with the selvage running the length of the quilt when possible. This helps Danielle immensely as the raw edge of minky tends to curl and can be very difficult to properly load onto the longarm side clamps. We thank you so much for this consideration!

Pricing = Longarm Fee + $6 Thread Fee + Batting Cost + additional options (backing, binding, label)

Longarm EDGE-TO-EDGE Service Fee = $0.02/sq. inch (i.e., length x width x 0.02)

Backing, Batting, Binding and Label fees vary by project.

Customer Prep Work

Please complete the following prior to drop-off/shipping to The Quilt Idaho. Due to limited storage availability and liability concerns, tops left with The Quilt Idaho for excessive time before or after quilting services may be charged a storage fee or shipped home at customer expense.

Backing should be pieced to 8” longer and wider than top (unless purchasing from The Quilt Idaho).

Top and backing should be pressed and reasonably clean (i.e., free of filth). Please try to remove any animal hair or cigarette smoke (should we have to do this, we reserve the right to request an additional fee for the labor or to refuse service).

Please check for any hole/missed seams. Should the longarm “catch” such an opening, it may tear the top.

Please review and sign contract (if in person) or fill out the form below (if online), paying special attention to description of work to be done and expected completion date. This is required for work to begin.

Expectations of Service

We can work with either local pickup/drop off arrangements (Boise Co. and/or Treasure Valley region, Idaho) or shipping. Customer is responsible for shipping costs to and from The Quilt Idaho.

There is a minimum service fee of $50. This is because of the time and labor required to load a quilt onto the machine, regardless of size. We recommend very small quilts be domestically quilted at home over longarm service due to this fee.

Due to previous problems with customer provided batting quality and cuts (e.g., holes, taping, irregular/undersized cuts), we require our clients to purchase the batting used in the top we are quilting from us. We have a variety of high-quality Quilter’s Dream products for sale. Should you need a specialty/specific batting type (e.g., black cotton, etc.) that we do not have, please let us know and we can either order some in or find another solution to acquire what you need.

Completion dates are estimated given current availability. Should you have a strict deadline, please communicate this within contract of service. We want you to have your quilt when you need it and should we feel it may be too close of a deadline, we can recommend other local longarmers should they have availability. Longarming will need a MINIMUM of 2 weeks to complete after receiving the top. This may be longer depending on current availability, or any delays related to incomplete prep work, materials needed to be ordered, etc. We will work to keep you “in the loop” of the status of your quilt.

Work completed by The Quilt Idaho may be used in social media or other promotions. Should you specifically wish to opt-out of this, please notify us and place it in additional comments of your contract. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to showcase our work to potential clients and thank you for that opportunity.

We will work to keep the submission form up-to-date. Should a product not be available, we will work with you to provide the best possible options.

As a complimentary service to our customers, we typically trim quilts (after quilting) of excess batting and backing to 1/4” beyond the top. If you do not wish us to trim your top, please notify us in the comments of your submission (below) and confirm via either message or email.

We are quiltmakers. We understand the work, love, expense, and anticipation that goes into completing a project. We promise to give your project the love and care that we put into our own work. We are honored and humbled for your choice of using The Quilt Idaho for your longarm services. Thank you for supporting our small, family business!
