Quilt Repair Services

We are now venturing into the world of Quilt Repair

Have a quilt sentimental to yourself or your family, but don’t know how to quilt or what to do with it once it’s showing its age and use? Danielle, owner of The Quilt Idaho, knows what it’s like to have these special items and the heartache of deciding what to do with them once it’s shown all the love it has received.

Quilts can be and are heirloom family pieces. Inspired by a favorite, almost unsalvageable quilt given to her mother years ago by a thankful patient of her OBGYN practice, we have started offering quilt repair, restoration, and conservation services on a case-by-case basis. We want to help you and your family save these special items, either to get further use out of them or to keep for posterity.

Danielle has been quilting for approximately 8 years, starting by working on old hand-sewn tops from the estate of her husband’s grandma. She enjoys the challenge of the problem-solving process of how to repair a quilt and the satisfaction of seeing new-life loved back into it.

While no quilt can ever be returned to it’s original, completed glory, there are many tools and skills that can be used to extend its longevity. These include cleaning, patching, trimming, rebinding, and general mending. Furthermore, labels can be added to the quilt to save its story for future generations. You may not realize it now, but someone in your family will one day want that quilt and with it, a piece of their family history.

Danielle is now offering services to help save these precious items. Due to the various levels of complexity and damage seen in old quilts, each piece is individually assessed for what would be the best means of its preservation.

If you’re interested in giving your well-loved quilt a second chance, contact us below, letting us know about your quilt and its current situation, and we will see what we can do to help keep it in your family for a while longer.
